Course Reserves

Learn how to navigate, incorporate, and use Course Reserves in your class for increased course affordability and copyright management.

When instructors request materials placed on Course Reserves, a “Course Reserves” link will appear in the course navigation bar (Fig. 1)

Note: The instructor chooses placement order in the course navigation bar.  Course Reserves may be placed anywhere in the list.

What do the buttons do?

  • Fig 41. - Main Menu
    • Page containing all current enrolled classes of the student
  • Fig 42. - My Favorites
    • Page of all current items marked as favorites.
  • Fig 43. - Search Items
    • Search for course, instructor, title, author  
  • Fig 44.Help
    • Course Reserves main page
      • Page contains help, additional information, FAQs and more.
  • Fig 45. - Course information
    • Course and semester for current page
  • Fig 46.Tags
    • There will only be tags in this section if the student or instructor have added tags.  Clicking a tag will list all items with the tag.
  • Fig 47.Sort
    • Drop down choice of sorting by Default, Author, Title and Availability Date
  • Fig 48. - Tag Editor
    • This button will open the tag editor, which can add or remove personal tags.
      • Students cannot remove instructors’ tags, only their personal tags.
  • Fig 49. - Show Details/View Item
    • Show Details goes to a page with additional information about the item
    • View Item will only appear on electronic items.  Opens the electronic item.

  • Fig 50. - Add/Remove Favorites
    • Adds and removes items on the favorites list
  • Fig 51. - Details about items
    • Title, Author, Available Date, Location, Tags
      • Location is needed for hard copies to determine where the item is located
  • Fig 52. - Search bar for columns
    • Entering information in the search box at the top of a column will only pull items in the column matching it.
  • Fig 53.Tags
    • These tags work the same as (Fig. 46)

    • To check this material out, the student must ask for this call number.
