Course Reserves

Learn how to navigate, incorporate, and use Course Reserves in your class for increased course affordability and copyright management.

Books and E-books

Hard copy books owned by the Library, will be moved to the Library Main Desk

Instructors may place personal books on reserve, but the Library will not be responsible for damaged or lost books.

Hard copy or electronic books placed on reserve must be used by students to complete assignments or tests.  Books used for reference or extra-credit are not allowed.

When the Library does not own a book requested by the instructor, Course Reserves staff will attempt to purchase a copy.

  • Purchasing books can take several weeks to receive. Hint: submit early!
  • If cost is reasonable, Course Reserves will attempt to order eBooks when available.
  • If requested, Course Reserves staff will order a second copy of a book if the class has more than 50 students.  (Note: Many students check out a Reserve book, scan or photograph what they need and return book. 2nd copies are more often not necessary.)

Materials will be removed from Course Reserves at the close of the semester of use. If by the end of the fourth week of the next semester, Course Reserves has not received notice of their continued use, materials will be sent back to instructors and/or returned to the stacks.
