Resources

For your convenience, the Library Communications Team makes available a wide range of branded resources for use and/or download. Prior to requesting custom or department-specific items, please review all of the information on this page.

Style Guide

For reference only. The University Library graphic designer or other authorized staff will employ these elements in design projects.

Review this guide to gain a better understanding of how we handle messaging and graphic elements. It’s designed to help us convey information essential to our communications under both Iowa State University and University Library messaging umbrellas.

We are prohibited from creating logos for standing departments, units, programs and services. There are no exceptions. University Marketing reserves the right to remove/discard printed and digital materials and promotional items that do not follow branding policy.

University Marketing

The Iowa State Brand Standards Guide is a set of graphic elements and guidelines that, when properly executed, holds all the colleges, units, institutes, and centers within our university together. Each element has a specific role in preserving our university’s prestigious reputation in the academic world.

University Library Communications is the liaison between University Marketing (UMKT) and the University Library. UMKT must approve promotional item requests when university marks are part of the graphic design. This increases the turnaround time by 3-5 days. It is the responsibility of the person or team making the request to factor the extra time as part of the planning process and meeting deadlines.

Library communication efforts will always be consistent and parallel with those of UMKT, and the Director of University Marketing has been involved in meetings with ZLR Ignition and library representatives during the development of our brand style guide.
