IMechE began publishing proceedings in 1847.
Tables of contents for the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers are available online through Sage Publishing. Contents for the Proceedings of the Institution of Automobile Engineers are also available.
Compendex is a highly comprehensive index of engineering articles, but it also covers grey literature including conference proceedings. Many IMechE publications, including the Proceedings series, are indexed in this database. If you are unsure of which paper you are looking for, or need to verify that you have the correct citation, Compendex is a good starting point.
The ISU Library has copies of many of the proceedings in the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers series, but our collection is not comprehensive.
Records for the modern, journal-format versions of the IMechE proceedings can also be found by searching for "Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers" (with the quotes) in Quick Search. Papers and proceedings not in our collection may be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
