Find Statistics

Sociological research often requires the use of data and statistics about the populations being studied. The following websites have been compiled to provide a jumping off point for researchers looking for statistics and data about agriculture, employment, education, homelessness, race, and more!

Sage Data (formerly Data Planet) This link opens in a new window
Sage Data provides access to data sets and tools for a wide range of disciplines: Agriculture, Business, Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement, Education, Energy, International Relations and Trade, Politics, Population and Income. It allows search and browse of datasets, comparing variables of interest, and creating customized exportable charts and tables.

Social Explorer
Interactive mapping and reporting tools. Contains info from: Census data from 1790 to 2010; American Community Survey (all); Religion data - InfoGroup 2009; Religion data - RCMS 1980 to 2000; Carbon emissions - Vulcan Project.
CDC - Data & Statistics
U.S. Center for Disease Control - statistics issued by this office concerning specific health issues can be accessed by topic and/or date.
Crowd Counting Consortium
Data on protests and demonstrations in the U.S. Based out of Harvard. Examples of data graphs are available in their blog. Raw data available via GitHub.
