Metadata Matters

Online training and workshops from the Iowa State University Library Metadata Services department

Authority control 101

This session of Metadata Matters will introduce attendees to the basics of authority control and the work that makes it possible. It will begin with a brief overview of authority control and its purpose. It will then discuss select components of authority records and their functions. Finally, it will highlight several applications of authority metadata, both within the traditional library catalog and beyond. All attendees, regardless of their role in the library, will gain a greater understanding of authority control and its benefits for library users.

Presented by Chris Dieckman.
