Background Research

Defined: learning and locating summary information about your topic. Often found in reference books (encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, etc.), textbooks, and in introductory level sources.

You may use informal sources, such as Wikipedia, with the understanding that the information and facts from these sources need to be verified from other, more trustworthy, sources.

Be on the look out for helpful keywords while doing background research and jot them down!
