Sorghum Variety Trials in Iowa

Early Sorghum tests in Iowa:

1913-1916, see Knobbs, Wallace J. Cooperative Experiments.  M.S. thesis.  Iowa State College, 1922.

1921-1938, see Thurman, Floyd.  Field Crop Tests on Iowa Farms. M.S. thesis. Iowa State College, 1940.

The Iowa Sorghum Performance Test was created in 1958 and led by R.E. Atkins, J.G. Wheat, and C.D. Hutchcroft to test combine type grain sorghum variety yields.  Also referred to as Sorghum Performance Trials, these tests were conducted as part of the Iowa Crop Improvement Association research in cooperation with Iowa State University.
