Joy Harjo is an internationally renowned poet, playwright, and performer. She is the first Native American to hold the title of United States Poet Laureate and the second Poet Laureate to serve three terms. Harjo was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1951 and is a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
