The ISU Library subscribes to many different article databases. Below are some recommended databases for your class assignment.

Academic Search Ultimate
This database covers almost all subject areas and is especially good at interdisciplinary areas. Good place to start for class assignments. It contains full text articles for more than 6,500 journals.

CQ Researcher Plus Archive
This is a good resource to use if you are looking for the pros and cons of hot topics. The publication date for each report is located in the upper right-hand corner.
Opposing Viewpoints
Useful for finding pro/con arguments and facts on many of today's controversial topics. For each topic, the resource provides featured viewpoints, statistical information, pertinent websites, videos and images, and further references.

Search Tips

Use "and", "or" to link concepts:

(chocolate OR cacao) AND (benefit* OR risk*)

Use quotation marks if searching for an exact phrase:

"low-fat milk"

Truncate search terms if appropriate. Adding an * at the end of a word will search for alternate word endings. For example, clon* will retrieve cloning, clone, clones, clonal.
