Books on Reserve - Vet Med Library

Access to select library resources for Vet Med students, researchers, and clinicians.

What is Reserve?

Faculty can request to have copies of library books pertinent to their class placed on reserve in the Vet Med Library. Reserve books are located behind the library service desk and may be checked out and returned the next day. Ask library staff if you wish to borrow a reserve book.

Other Options for Reserve Books

Is the book you want unavailable or would you like to have a book for longer than a day? Here are several other options.

  • Online Books
    • Some reserve books may be available online; click on the title to access the online option. There may be limits to the number of people who can access an online book at the same time.
  • Other Editions
    • The library sometimes owns multiple copies or earlier editions of reserve books. Use Quick Search to see if these options are available to you. Ask your professor if an earlier edition is appropriate for your studies.
  • Partner Libraries
    • If the ISU Library does not have a copy available for extended loan, you may be able to borrow the book from another library. Using the Advanced Quick Search, select Partner Libraries and search for books from these libraries. Sign in to request to have the book delivered to the ISU Library. Once you are notified the book has arrived, contact Library staff to have it transferred to the Vet Med Library for pickup.
  • Interlibrary Loan

Be aware that though these services are free to you, it may take several days to fulfill your request. The books may be subject to recall if someone else requests the book. Loan periods may vary.
