Zotero is an Add-on or Plug-in for the Firefox browser which serves as a bibliographic management tool.  It is designed to help you gather, organize and use bibliographic citations for the creation of scholarly articles, reference lists, or web-based reading lists.  Zotero also serves as a web capture tool.  This application can be integrated with Microsoft Word to allow for citing articles while writing, utilizing another plug-in.

Iowa State University Library supports this software application, which is freely available.
