Throughout today’s self-guided tour, you’ll be exploring the spaces, services, resources, and technology that will help you build on your success as an ISU student. Parks Library is your main library on campus, and we also have branches in Design and Veterinary Medicine -- whether online or on campus, the library has what you need to succeed!

We’re focusing on the stuff you’re going to need in your first week, month, and semester on campus.

Technology, Printing, & Device Charging

  • Approximately 250 computers are found throughout the library (PC & Mac), and there is also great wifi.
  • Each computer area has printers you can use (color printers are in select locations).
  • High-tech document scanners are available for you to email scanned materials or save them to a flash drive.
  • Outlets and USB ports are accessible throughout the building so you can easily charge your devices.

Using the Library

  • As an undergraduate student, you can typically check out books for 4 weeks -- Just bring it to the Main Desk and use your student ID to check it out. There are also DVDs, CDs and more to explore!
  • The library helps save students money by making course reserve materials available, and by encouraging instructors to put course textbooks and materials on reserve at the library and use open educational resources (free textbooks) in classes, saving students over $100,000 last year!
  • There’s lots of stuff to support your learning, projects, and success.
    • Books: 2,801,43
    • Ebooks: 460,516
    • Online journals: 110,162
    • Total journals: 142,624.
  • On an average day Parks Library has approximately 12,000 to 13,000 people visit! And (at full capacity) the library can seat over 2,500 people!
  • Parks Library has five floors and seven tiers. Books are located on most floors and in the tiers. The tiers are levels between the main floors which were built with lower ceilings to maximize space for the collections you use.

  • Open until 2 am, Sunday through Thursday, 8 pm Friday & Saturday during regular semester hours.
  • Open 24/7 during Prep Week and Finals Week. Hours vary during holidays and summer.
