DEI Read & Learn

Resources for learning more about diversity, equity & inclusion topics, from the library's DEI Committee

Do you have books to donate? Please contact Dan Coffey or Susan Vega García, who oversee this collection and manage acquisitions and weeding. We are looking for gently used titles and especially titles dealing with DEI topics, or written by people of color and other marginalized communities, as these perspectives have been underrepresented in the Staff Lounge reading collection.

  • We do reserve the right to decline donations, with donor responsible for disposal. Any declined titles purchased with university funds would need to be sent to ISU Asset Recovery; other declined titles might be donated to Ames Public Library, Goodwill, or local garage sale.

DEI Reads: Library Staff Reading Collection

For library staff: The Parks Library Staff Lounge has a growing number of eclectic DEI titles available on the bookshelf for staff to browse and read while taking a break, having lunch, etc. These books are marked with identifying labels that say "DEI Reads: ISU Library Staff Reading Collection - Please return book to Staff Lounge."  You are welcome to take a book back to your office, but please do remember to return it to the Staff Lounge bookshelf.

In many cases these titles are also available in the library's public collections. Below is a partial list of titles available in the Staff Lounge. Enjoy!
