Arab American Heritage Month is celebrated in April to recognize Arab American histories and cultures, and to pay tribute to the many contributions of Arab Americans to the United States. This heritage month has not yet received federal designation but has been celebrated for decades in some states and regions. On April 30, 2019, members of the US House of Representatives again raised the issue of federal recognition of Arab American Heritage Month through House Resolution 335. According to that Resolution introduced by Rep. Donna Shalala, approximately 3,700,000 Arab Americans reside in the U.S. and Arabic is among the fastest growing languages in the country. We join in that recognition through this online exhibit.
