Open Access Requirements

This page hosts a directory to various government agency requirements regarding Public (open) Access to research.

If you have any questions about these requirements or would like to know more about Open Access publishing options please contact openISU@iastate.edu or your subject librarian.

If your grant also has a data management/sharing requirement you can find out more about this topic on the Data Management Plan Guide.

Federal Agency Requirements Directory

In 2013, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) issued a policy memorandum directing federal agencies to develop policies to make the publications and data resulting from funded research freely available to the public.

Not all agencies have stated Open Access policies, but those that do are linked below. This list is updated as new information becomes available.
