Visitors Guide to Research Resources

This guide is intended to alert campus visitors to research resources that are available to them from the ISU Libraries - both remotely and on-campus.

Eating Options

The Parks Library, Design Reading Room, and the Veterinary Medical Library all have a café within their buildings - Bookends Café, Design Café, and the Gentle Doctor Café. In addition, just outside the Parks Library is the Hub Grill & Café. Click on the link below to check the hours and menu options for a specific café.

Directions to Campus

Iowa State University is located in Ames, Iowa. Interstate 35 runs north and south, just east of Ames, and U.S. Highway 30 runs east and west, just south of campus. There is a limited amount of metered parking available next to the Armory (about a block from the Parks Library). Check out the links below for other parking options and directions.

Tips:

Bring along a flash drive!

Many electronic journal articles can be downloaded to a portable disk.

Non-electronic books and journal articles can be scanned for free and downloaded to your disk as well.

Photocopies are $.20 per page.

Scanning is FREE!

Do some preliminary searching before your visit

Go ahead and try out Quick Search and zip around in the e-Library website to locate information on your topic in advance of your visit. This will save you time once you get to campus. If you require materials located in the Storage Building, you may want to request they be delivered to the Parks Library ahead of time.
