Finding Books and Dissertations

An entry within worldcat. The entry shows brief information about the book like author, publisher, series, etc. and then a grey bar that reads "find a copy in the library" and a field where you put your zip code ("enter your location") to find the library physically nearest that zip.

TRAC Lending Collaborative

The ISU Library is a member of the Two Rivers Alma Collaborative (TRAC) which consists of 11 academic libraries in and surrounding Iowa who use the same library discovery tool (Alma).

The benefits for library users include integrated library catalog searching (you can search partner libraries within the familiar ISU library interface), you can request print books be delivered from partner libraries, and you can walk into a partner library and borrow directly from them at their location. At this point, electronic resources are not included in our lending agreements due to licensing restrictions.

Member libraries include:

  • Allen College
  • Creighton University
  • Drake University
  • Grand View University
  • Grinnell College
  • Hawkeye Community College
  • Iowa State University
  • St. Ambrose University
  • University of Iowa
  • University of Northern Iowa
  • Wartburg College

How do you search within Partner Libraries?

  • First, select advanced search next to the box where you normally enter in your key words.

advanced search button

  • Then select the button in front of Partner libraries - this will allow you to only search the partner libraries, not ISU's holdings. Toggle the button in front of ISU Library to return to searching resources ISU provides access to.
