About This Guide

This guide is a companion to the Senior Project for Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management (AESHM) 499X seminar course that culminates in an exhibition at the Ames Public Library beginning November 28th, 2018. The theme of the exhibition will revolve around the Black Lives Matter movement and how it relates to politics, activism and fashion. Using historic and cultural methodologies, the exhibition will highlight the different ways clothing, fashion, appearance and style have been an example of resistance, rebellion and negotiations of Black politics historically and today.
